Our Client 

Our client is a private equity-backed, technology-enabled services company operating at the intersection of software, data, and a regulated professional services industry. The organization runs multiple market-leading businesses and proprietary platforms, serving customers across Canada. 

The company is well-established in its market, and entering a significant growth phase. Backed by institutional investors and preparing for future capital markets activity, it is seeking a high-calibre Chief Financial Officer to help drive strategy, value creation, and long-term growth. 

Reporting directly to the CEO, the CFO will act as a key strategic partner to the executive team, Board, investors, lenders, and other stakeholders. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both strategic thinking and operational execution across a complex, multi-entity business. 

Key Responsibilities 

Strategic Finance & Value Creation 

  • Partner with the CEO and leadership team to develop and execute long-term strategy and financial plans
  • Build and maintain multi-year financial models to support capital allocation and growth decisions
  • Develop KPIs, dashboards, and analytics to drive performance across business lines
  • Evaluate investments, partnerships, and strategic initiatives
  • Provide financial insight to support enterprise decision-making

Capital Markets, Investor Relations & Financing 

  • Lead fundraising and support future capital markets activities
  • Manage relationships with investors, lenders, and banking partners
  • Develop and communicate financial narratives to the Board and shareholders
  • Deliver executive-level reporting and strategic updates
  • Support capital structure planning and liquidity management

M&A and Corporate Development 

  • Lead financial diligence, valuation, and execution of acquisitions and investments
  • Support transaction structuring and negotiation
  • Oversee integration planning and post-deal performance tracking
  • Identify and evaluate growth opportunities and partnerships

Finance Leadership & Operations 

  • Oversee FP&A, controllership, treasury, tax, audit, and reporting
  • Maintain strong financial controls, governance, and compliance
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and long-range planning
  • Improve finance systems and reporting infrastructure
  • Partner with operations and technology teams to improve scalability

Team Leadership 

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing finance team
  • Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement
  • Strengthen cross-functional business partnership across the organization

Qualifications 

  • 10+ years of progressive senior finance leadership experience (CFO, VP Finance, or equivalent)
  • Experience in private equity-backed, high-growth, or entrepreneurial environments
  • Proven track record in capital raises, debt financing, and investor relations
  • Strong M&A experience (buy-side and/or sell-side)
  • Experience building and scaling finance functions through growth and change
  • Strong FP&A, strategic finance, and commercial acumen
  • Experience in multi-entity or multi-business organizations
  • Excellent communication skills with Board and investor-level exposure
  • Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution
  • Experience in technology, SaaS, fintech, professional services, financial services, or regulated industries considered an asset
