Legal Director
Location: Brampton, Ontario

Our Client
Our client is a global leader in energy solutions and equipment rental services, supporting customers across a wide range of industries including construction, infrastructure, manufacturing, and industrial operations. This newly created standalone legal role offers the opportunity to join a growing Canadian business and serve as a key legal partner to leadership while collaborating closely with the North American legal team.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary legal advisor for the Canadian business, partnering closely with the VP of Legal and senior leadership.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of customer and vendor commercial agreements.
  • Advise business leaders on legal, commercial, and operational risks.
  • Support the Canadian business across a variety of legal matters, including commercial contracts, employment, compliance, risk management, insurance, litigation management, intellectual property, and regulatory matters.
  • Develop and deliver internal legal and compliance training programs.
  • Manage external counsel relationships where required.
  • Support leasing, real estate, and business expansion initiatives.
  • Provide occasional support on acquisitions, due diligence, and corporate legal matters.
  • Build strong relationships with business stakeholders and provide proactive, practical legal guidance in a fast-paced operational environment.

Qualifications
  • Member in good standing of a Canadian Law Society.
  • Possess 4–9+ years of legal experience, including at least 3 years of in-house legal experience.
  • Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, including customer and vendor contracts.
  • Strong ability to operate independently in a standalone, business-facing legal role.
  • Strong commercial judgment and ability to provide practical, solutions-oriented legal advice.
  • Experience advising senior business stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Experience supporting employment, compliance, risk management, and general corporate legal matters.
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial, construction, engineering, infrastructure, energy, equipment rental, or similar operational industries is considered an asset.
  • Fluency in French (oral and written) is highly preferred to support Québec operations and French-language contracts.
