Our Client
Our client, a leading full service national law firm, is seeking an Infrastructure/Project Finance Lawyer to join its group in Toronto. The group is recognized for its work on complex, high-value domestic and cross-border transactions across the energy, infrastructure and natural resources sectors.
The team advises a sophisticated client base including lenders, export credit agencies, sponsors, developers and institutional investors. It is involved across the full lifecycle of projects, from development and structuring to financing, acquisition, refinancing and restructuring. The practice spans multiple jurisdictions and asset classes, including transportation, energy (renewables and conventional), and other large-scale infrastructure assets.
The Role
The successful candidate will step into a hands-on role with significant responsibility on active files.
The position offers exposure to a broad range of project development and project finance matters, as well as related M&A transactions. The lawyer will be involved in structuring, negotiating and executing complex financing arrangements, often in a cross-border context.
The role also includes working on a variety of financing structures, including conventional and more specialized arrangements, and interacting directly with clients and counterparties. The successful candidate will be expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy while collaborating closely with partners and other team members.
The Ideal Candidate
- Member in good standing of the Ontario Bar
- 3+ years of relevant experience in project finance, infrastructure or energy
- Strong experience in financing transactions and project development
- Exposure to infrastructure and/or energy projects is strongly preferred
- Experience with cross-border transactions is an asset
- Ability to manage files independently and take on significant responsibility
- Strong drafting, negotiation and analytical skills
